To be honest, fantasy *does* have follow certain *rules.*
Only thing is, everybody is free to decide what those rules are for their own fantasy. You do still need to have rules of some sort. E.g., if you’re in a Tolkien fantasy, you do *not* see Elves mining for gold. You just *don’t.* That’s what Dwarfs do, not Elves.
So if the troll doesn’t like the rules in *this* fantasy, he can just go sit his fat a*s down and create his own. Then he can keep polar bears and penguins on opposite ends of the Earth if that’s what he wants. He can even keep light sabers and ducks with flames exploding out of its feathers. Whatever.
But he *can’t* complain about the rules in somebody else’s fantasy.
Oh wait … that’s what makes him a “Troll” isn’t it?
