Still building the tension, but I think it can't go much further before some kind of action. This would be a good time for those goons of the dark lord to attack, and involve Dad and his chums in the fight with our Bean… in which case they'll be thinking twice or three times about trying to take that weapon away from him. This would certainly be turning lemons into lemonade!

My guess: Theron and Otter intervene, having been watching from outside. This solidifies their status as better parental figures than Bean's actual father. (Well, Otter isn't exactly a mother figure, and I do think she's teaching Bean some toxic lessons, but she cares more for him than Tillian.)

Too many loose-ends. If Dad and his stooges are suddenly faced with a fight against those faceless and relentless killers who only think of them as being in the way they'll all have to fight on Bean's side. First because there's no other choice and then because there's something going on in the "good versus evil" department and it's a quick realization that it's their side and he's fighting for them. They're not bad, just given to taking advantage of an opportunity, so they want to fight the thugs, and nobody tells them what to do! Even later, Dad can tell a story about Bean fighting like a banshee on steroids, "That was my SON!" Grinning, "Chip off the old block!". Then after the fight has started to look grim Theron and Otter jump in after being delayed elsewhere looking for Bean and it's a slaughter-house!!! They win, but quickly run off in their separate ways because of the nasty situation. (No loose-ends, and a general good feeling about it all.-Lemonade-)

I'm thinking that patricide, no matter how unavoidable it is in the moment, will prove to be a heavy load to carry. How many losses, how much will Bean end up having to "carry"? And will it corrupt him, or will he find a way to carry the load? Either way, there is no immediately positive outcome to this moment.
