the character of the guardian was really complex. He cursed and has had many years to think about things… Since the sword chose the bean, the guardian recognizes this as a release and longs secretly to be set free for his actions many many years ago.

Just found this site and read through it all immediately. Great work, Travis Hanson! Your imagery combines the communicative minimalism of Frank Miller with the delicate detailing that makes Bill Waterson's work so magical. The story is as lush as anything by Bill Willingham did and as cleverly playful as Jeff Smith's work. Well done! I will be here daily looking for updates.

Speaking of bean's kidnapper, I can't wait to find out how Bean's new friend will deal with him.
At least *I* think he/she/it is a friend…..I mean…Bean's not dead YET, is he?
BTW, add me to the group who thoroughly love this comic 🙂

You will have to wait and see:) as for being a friend i am not sure either but i can agree that he must not be too evil because you are right – bean is not dead yet.
Glad you are enjoying the tale. and i have added you to the group:)

Cliffhanger! Bah! Thoroughly enjoying your work and I’m anxiously awaiting the next one. But he’s the one right? Or maybe he isn’t? Hmmm…

lol… wait til you see the paddles:)
or did bean's kidnapper ever make it to the sword chamber?
Hoomi » 3 Jul 2010 »
My inclination is that the kidnapper is standing back at the entrance tunnel, holding a length of broken rope, and thinking something to the effect of, "Dang. I really thought this was the one that would survive the retrieval process. I guess I'll have to find another…"
