Hmmm. Pure and innocent people tend not to make it very far in politics (see Macchiavelli: The Prince). I suppose it's different for elves.

i think it all depends on who is around them and how strong they are internally and though it is rare i think a few have managed to keep their ground and their belief systems in tack. As for the elves, they are similar to men in some aspects, just more emotionally driven.
I can't say enough good things about the atmospherics of your art. It's so immersive!
