Well it’s sickness in the hanson household right now.  A couple with the flue and one with a tummy ache.  Yet I am doing fine. Just sitting on the couch and taking a moment to relax and enjoying the evening.

I am really happy with how these next few pages came out. They are actually some of my favorite pages. I had a lot of fun putting them together.

Now back to my soft cushy couch.

Yikes! That tree root looks like a claw or hook reaching out to snag Fencer. Meanwhile, For Heartleaf!! *Cheers Fencer on*

can't rightly express my love for this entire comic – there are no words that i could/can use to do so! you are one of my top artistic and story-telling inspirations, Trav; keep up the wonderful work, and keep our imaginations full of these wonderful stories and drawings!

btw, when I first saw this page with all the goblins trotting along, this is what popped into my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdXQJS3Yv0Y&fe

i love both the rankin bass versions of tolkiens work… though i know rotk was riddled with issues. One of my first real introductions to fantasy art. The cool think about Rankin bass cartoons is the gritty way they draw their creatures and characters. Great inspiration plus the voices… oh dont get me started 🙂

and thank you i am glad you like world. I will keep at it. I promise

Love, love, LOVE this page. Fencer looks so determined and full of awesomeness in this panel.

The goblin with the hat does look kind of like he's rolling his eyes, like he's thinking "Oh, boy, here we go again….all the raiding and murdering nonsense…" 😉

he's a soldier- trained to do a job- it really shows his character i think.

As for the goblin- i could see that… even a goblin might have feelings.

Trav,

I hope the two of you with the chimney problem get better soon. I know when I have chimney problems I get all choked up and it puts a real damper on the festivities.

On the comic the first thing that popped into my head was Paul Revere plays Fencer…. The goblins are coming! The goblins are coming!

PS: The sickness is spelled without the 'e'.

I hope you don't take a poker to me for that joke, I'll just scuttle away now.

    that was puny:)

    paul revere- interesting thought

as for spelling, I struggle with dyslexia 🙂 I will work harder:)

Glad you feel okay in spite of the sickness.

Also, I can see why you’re so happy with these pages, I can’t remember ever being so inspired by goblin faces!

In my head, this is what everyone is thinking:

Fencer, below: Must get to Heartleaf, MUST beat the goblins! MUST go faster!!! For honour, for justice, for the sake of my family name!!! PER POWER IS GOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, above, the goblins in the foreground, from left to right:

Goblin 1, Hodgekins: Hmmm, I sense a disturbance in the forest force, something this way comes… UNSEEN!?!?!
Goblin 2, Seymour: Oh man, I hate this. I don’t have a weapon, don’t even have a flippin helmet!!! I’M WEARING A GOD-DAMN HAT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! *sigh* Should the freaking assistant cook even BE this far forward!?!?! What the leaf!?!? 🙁
Goblin 3, Grubkin: Hmm, let’s see now, do I go for their throats, or attack the centre of mass??? Hmm, decisions, incisions…
Goblin 4, Chester: Duhhhhhh, must keep marchin’, duuuuuhhhhhhh, must keep breathin’, duuuhhhhh, *pant* this is such hard work, why can’t I just focus on one thing? *pant* Duuuhhhh…

And last, but not least, Goblin 5, up front, Commander Sedgewick: Heh! Gonna smash em!!! Gonna crush em!!! Gonna bash em!!! Gonna mush em!!!! Today, my customized axe of awesomeness will BURN with the BLOOD of thine enemies, and the SCREAMS of their pain shall fill the air with the scent of… wait. Scent, burning, why does that seem to… CRAP!!!!! I LEFT THE FIRE ON!?!?!?!?! O_o

Thanks people! It was hard not to imagine what they were thinking with such expressive features, glad my random naming didn’t offend anyone. ^_^
